Oak Ridge Varsity Girls Water Polo

The Oak Ridge Varsity Girls Water Polo team had a pre-season "scrimmage" against El Camino on Tuesday at the CSD in El Dorado Hills. The girls played a good match and displayed alot of stamia for the first match of the season. Unfortunately our goalie was getting a little too much action this day.

Next up for the girls is the season opener against Oakmont at the CSD. Game starts at 6PM.

Oak Ridge Varsity Girls Golf

The Oak Ridge Varsity girls golf team officially kicked off the season by playing a scrimmage match against St. Francis at Serrano Country Club, yesterday.
This was just a "friendly" match and it was a good chance for the girls to get started and see how they stack up against the competition this year. The team lost a couple of good golfers due to their graduating last year.

2008 Oak Ridge High School Football

Sr. Desmond Cooke evading Sophmore Jordan Matanane

The 2008 Oak Ridge High School football season is now upon us. The teams have been conditioning and doing summer practice sessions to prepare for the season and had their first team practice in full gear yesterday. The coaches liked the progress the players were making and enjoyed watching the players make full contact for the first time this season. The season officially opens September 12th with an away game at the Rocklin Thunder.

Hot August Blast Off Tournament

We've completed another pre-season tournament. Unfortunately the results were not quite what we were hoping for. We played a total of 3 games aginst some very good competition in this tournament. The first couple of games, our boys were schooled on good teamwork and passing. Our second game was much more competitive than the first, although we had trouble getting the ball to the other side of the field. The final score was a testiment to how hard our defense was working.

The game on Sunday was a much better played game on our behalf. The score was closer and we played much better as a team.

The play of the boys for the last 1 1/2 games of the tournament encouraged Coach Ryan to persue playing in the Redmond Tournament. Let's make sure we bring our 'A' game and try to rack up a couple of W's.

GOOD LUCK to all the boys trying out for their perspective high school teams. It looks like there are limited open positions with all the competitive players coming in. FC Burn wishes all of you luck and play like you know how you can!

FC Burn - Junction City Silver Tournament

We learned this last tournament how tough it is to play 2 games in 100 degree heat with no substitute players. I'm not sure if we learned anything, but I think the boys certainly did. It was a tough go with no substitute players, especially given the weather conditions and a couple of the boys were playing injured.

The team managed to have a solid win in their first game against the Storm by a score of 4-2. The second game of the day, was a little rougher with a loss to the Rocklin Raptors 0-10. Luckily they called off the scoring machine (due to tournament rules) and just toyed with our boys by passing the ball around. Not to say we were not in the game, but in the second half Josh was our goalie, only allowing 1 goal. Okay, that was just because they would have been penalized for scoring, but still it was a moral victory.

The last game played on Sunday morning was a loss to the Roseville Nitro 1-4. The boys played well, but again without any subsititue players, they could only hang on for so long.

The team did look extremely sharp in the new uniforms for the season.
