Varsity Girls Playoff vs. WoodCreek

Last night the ORHS Girls Varsity Basketball team took on Woodcreek at the Oak Ridge Gym. The crowd was much larger and noiser than the previous playoff game vs. Rocklin. Although their was much more intensity during this game, the final score of 59-30 would not indicate that. Once again the Lady Trojan defense was relentless, allowing only 2 point in the first quarter, and 11 in the first half.

During the second half, Woodcreek did score more, and play more agressively, however they faced too large of a deficit to make this game intersting. Although watching Coach White on the sidelines might have given a different impression.

Next up for the Lady Trojans is Grant in the semifinal game Wednesday at the University of the Pacific in Stockton.
Good Luck Lady Trojans.

OHRS Playofff Game vs. Rocklin

Last night (02/23/09), the Oak Ridge Varsity girls basketball team began their playoff run at ORHS against Rocklin. The Lady Trojans started out quick by taking a 23-2 lead after the first quarter, finally finishing the game at 74-21. Although Rocklin added more points to their total, the outcome of the game had pretty much been determined by the first quarter.

Earlier in the week, Steve White was quoted in the El Dorado Hills Telegraph as saying "Even though we’re the number-one seed playing 16, the first round against Rocklin isn’t going to be a cakewalk by any means." The game play obviously did not meet his expectations, or he was being "politically correct"!

In the 3rd and 4th quarters, the second unit played much of the time. Natalie Stone, scored 11 points, while the points leader was none other than Sara James with 26.

Next up for the Lady Trojans is another home playoff game Thursday, 2/26 at 7:00 PM against Wood/Woodcreek.

Oak Ridge Water Polo vs. Rosevilled 9-2-08

All the water polo teams played today against the Roseveille Tigers and a couple of the teams put on quite a scoring display.

The Varsity Boys lost 9-7 after having led most of the game. They seemed to just lose a little of the momentum in the final quarter.

The Varisty Girls had a little trouble with the Tigers and ended up losing 7-2, although the game seemed much closer than the score indicated.

The JV Boys and JV Girls put on quite a scoring display. The JV boys won their match 19-9, and the JV girls put the cap on a one sided scoring display of 22-2. Much of the girls' scoring was accomplished individually, without having the need of assists. This was a result of the Tigers just being outmatched.

Oak Ridge Varsity Girls Water Polo

The Oak Ridge Varsity Girls Water Polo team had a pre-season "scrimmage" against El Camino on Tuesday at the CSD in El Dorado Hills. The girls played a good match and displayed alot of stamia for the first match of the season. Unfortunately our goalie was getting a little too much action this day.

Next up for the girls is the season opener against Oakmont at the CSD. Game starts at 6PM.

Oak Ridge Varsity Girls Golf

The Oak Ridge Varsity girls golf team officially kicked off the season by playing a scrimmage match against St. Francis at Serrano Country Club, yesterday.
This was just a "friendly" match and it was a good chance for the girls to get started and see how they stack up against the competition this year. The team lost a couple of good golfers due to their graduating last year.

Sr. Desmond Cooke evading Sophmore Jordan Matanane

The 2008 Oak Ridge High School football season is now upon us. The teams have been conditioning and doing summer practice sessions to prepare for the season and had their first team practice in full gear yesterday. The coaches liked the progress the players were making and enjoyed watching the players make full contact for the first time this season. The season officially opens September 12th with an away game at the Rocklin Thunder.
